I learned firsthand how essential the Sound Horse Solutions Colic Kit is when my horse colicked. They comprehensively addressed many issues vital to the well-being of the horse that is greatly needed in the world of horse-man-ship. Being new to horse ownership, we were overwhelmed when it came to addressing health issues. Our horses have had colic, hoof issues, structural problems and other ailments, infections and injuries. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend the Whole Horse Wellness Workshop at Freedom Farm in November. I brought two of my own horses along with me. One was an older Appaloosa gelding that has had some problems with EPM and the other was a two year old Haflinger gelding coming along for some desensitizing. The colt was a bit nervous in the trailer and started having loose stools on the trip up to Sequim from Olympia. By the time the clinic was over, the colt had watery diarrhea. I was becoming concerned, so I asked Audrey and Mary what I could do. Mary suggested using the Photonic Therapy Light. Both gals came out, used the light on the major points, then used the light on a variety of colic points, plus a few extra. The colt was quiet despite the wind coming up and the temperature dropping. The use of the light was the only thing that was done for the colt. The next morning his stool was as normal as ever.
This incident reinforced all the things that I learned at the one day workshop. It was as if the colt had to present me with a tangible problem for me to become a true believer—even though I have dabbled in homeopathic healing for the last decade. The facts and figures that Audrey and Mary presented during the workshop were astounding, and the colt just seemed to reaffirm everything that they had taught us.
The workshop was full of innovative ideas, affirmations of things some of us are already doing, amazing amounts of fun facts, and astonishing bits of information to mull over and to consider. My horses had never colicked, so when my Morgan gelding colicked in early November I was pretty concerned. I have been present when colicking horses were tubed, treated (and in one case euthanized) by a vet. I wanted to do the right thing, but I wanted to spare my horse the trauma of being tubed if it wasn't necessary. I take lessons from Mary at her facility Freedom Farm, and I immediately thought of the success she and Audrey have had with holistic colic treatment at the farm, so I opted to try their methods.
Within half an hour of being given the appropriate remedies for gas colic, given a Photonic Therapy Light treatment specifically for colic, and dosed with peppermint tea, my horse showed great improvement. No longer trying to go down and roll, he stood quietly while we monitored his condition and listened for gut sounds. Soon he passed gas and manure, and in another few minutes he started expressing interest in us, in his surroundings, and in food. I was very impressed, and also—I must admit—relieved not to have to spend hundreds of dollars on a vet bill!
About a month later, just after attending one of Audrey's Whole Horse Health Workshops and excited to own one of her Holistic First-Aid Kits, my other horse colicked! I wasn't confident to treat her on my own and Audrey, bless her heart, dropped everything to come assist me. My mare recovered quickly, just as my gelding did.
